Kommersant.com reports that Elton hit the stage in Rostov-on-Don's central square last Thursday in his first provincial city concert in Russia.
The Briton played for 100,000 people in a ceremony to celebrate the launch of a metallurgical plant.
The concert marked the launch of the first section of the Rostov electrometallurgical plant.
Rostov Region Governor Vladimir Chub noted that they had to build a plant to make Elton come to this city in Russias south.
The bill was by businessman, Vladimir Varshavsky.
Mr. Varshavsky is a co-owner in coal firm Russky Ugol and Estar metallurgy holding which also holds 25 percent in FC Rostov.
The concert ended with a ten minute firework show while Sir Elton was playing Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
Afterwards, he was greeted by a Cossack band and local officials.
Rostov top brass were impressed by his unassuming ways.
