Tickets, which are $48, $68 and $88, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the University of Florida box office in Reitz Union and through Ticketmaster.
Announced Monday, the new show is the long-awaited return date to make up for a March 20, 2005 engagement Elton had to cancel on the day of the show.
"The day of the concert, the stage was loaded in, we were completely ready to go and he woke up and was very, very, very ill," said Renee Musson, associate director of the O'Connell Center.
Originally postponed, the 2005 concert was later scrapped when scheduling conflicts between Elton's tour and the O'Connell Center couldn't be worked out.
The former Reg Dwight has played the O'Connell before, however, in a 1999 solo performance that had fans longing for a return date soon thereafter.
"It was the talk of the town for months," Musson recalled.
Unlike in 1999, the new date is billed as featuring Elton's full touring band.
