A man who has toured with Elton will headline the last musical event ever to be held at Shea Stadium.
Billy Joel will perform at the Flushing, Queens ballpark on July 19.
The 2008 season will be the Mets' last at Shea. They're preparing to move to now-under-construction Citi Field, right next door, for 2009.
The 58-year-old recently showed up at the venue to promote his appearance, swinging a bat a few times and holding up a shirt that bore the concert's name: The Last Play At Shea.
The show will occur during the All-Star break - on the day after the game, which is traditionally a day off for baseball teams..
Tickets go on sale February 16.
Shea ushered in the era of stadium rock with a Beatles concert in 1965, but there hasn't been a gig there during the baseball season since Elton and Eric Clapton played there in 1992.
