The Elton John AIDS Foundation has announced that the charity's founder has stepped in to perform at his fundraising soirée, the Grey Goose Character & Cocktails Winter Ball, on October 30.

Elton will be the headliner because the scheduled performer is unable to make it.

Lily Allen regrets that she has had to pull out of her scheduled appearance this Saturday due to a viral infection.  As Lily is pregnant and not able to take medication, she has been advised to rest until the infection clears. She apologises to Elton and to anyone attending the event.

So Elton will be performing a 45-minute set as part of the evening, which involves a cocktail reception, dinner and auction in aid of the EJAF.

Guests will be treated to some of his hits and a couple of new tracks from his new recording with Leon Russell, The Union.

For the past three years Grey Goose has hosted Grey Goose Character & Cocktails: the Elton John AIDS Foundation Winter Ball, alongside the rock star and his partner.

This year, Jean Paul Gaultier is playing a big part in the proceedings.

The designer was given full creative control of the party, from the cocktails through to which items will be auctioned for the charity. Gaultier noted that he took a similar approach to creating the space as he does to designing a collection.

I only know how to dress, so in a way I dressed the space, he said, adding the event will have many of his design signatures. My sailor stripe will morph from the walls to the floors.there will be lace, there will be crystalsbut also lots of surprises.

Gaultier has also designed a bar for the event, in a similar shape to his mannequin-like perfume bottles, which will be auctioned for the EJAF.

And owing to the generous commitment of Grey Goose vodka, all income from ticket sales, programme advertising, and auction items will benefit the charity.

Tickets start from £350 per person / £3,000 per table.
