People fell in love with Tommy's clothes, and that's what I strive for in my own business to guide people through the joys and possibilities of bespoke, and bend the rules a little where necessary.  My memory of working with Tommy is that every day was a massive learning curve, usually accompanied by copious glasses of red wine and peals of laughter. I know that Tommy continues to inspire people to this day, and if visitors to the show pick up on that inspiration, then we'll have done our job, and honoured his legacy.

So says Timothy Everest, whose apprenticeship with Tommy Nutter left him with disdain for Savile Row stuffiness but appreciation of its craftsmanship.

Everest, who was honoured with the MBE for services to tailoring in 2010, is Assistant Curator of the Fashion & Textile Museum's upcoming homage to Nutter. He is helping to recreate the ambience of the late designer's shop and says it will look ''amazing.''

Rebel on The Row includes outfits worn by Elton which Timothy worked on. Mick Jagger and Neil Sedaka are among the other showbiz figures who have contributed items.

Admission £7 adults, £4 concessions. The show runs from May 20 through October 22.
