A court of appeals upheld a concert agency's appeal against the court decision to award the Russian Authors' Society (RAO) royalties for Elton's Moscow concert, lawyer Anatoly Semyonov informed the Russian Legal Information Agency today.
The Melnitsa agency requested the court to declare its contract with RAO null and void because the parties failed to agree on the list of songs for which an interim license was requested.
Melnitsa also said it had withdrawn its other claim to RAO regarding conclusion of royalties contract on the plaintiffs terms.
Elton played Moscow's Crocus City Hall in December 2010. As it turned out later Elton only performed his own songs, to which he holds the copyright.
