October 2012 @ 15:55
As announced recently by this Web site, Elton is throwing a lavish four-day affair in L.A. and Las Vegas to celebrate his boyfriend's 50th birthday this week.
The Daily Mail reports that an impressive list of names received invitations. They include Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster; Ringo Starr and his spouse, Barbara Bach; writer Sandi Brandt and her magazine editor partner Ingrid Sischy; the Beckhams and the Osbournes, and David's three best female friends, Liz Hurley, SamTaylor-Wood and Kelly Hoppen.
The main event is on Thursday, which is Davids actual birthday.
It takes the form of a showy black tie dinner for 200 in the ballroom of the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles.
The room, which features crimson walls and gold mouldings, will be decked out with a circus theme and the word is that it will include a bar run by the LA branch of Soho House Davids favourite bar.
The chef is thought to be Ludo Lefebvre, who catered for an EJAF Oscar event. Entertainment will be provided by the Cirque De Soleil, with a show adapted to the space.
Sir Elton is paying for this performance, but most other acts are entertaining for free. They include the Scissor Sisters and Lady Gaga.
The party rounds off on Saturday when guests will be driven to Elton's Million Dollar Piano show at Caesars Palace. Gordon Ramsay, who is planning to open a restaurant in Caesars Palace, is said to be assisting with the menu for a private gathering following the concert.
Elton hired Peregrine Armstrong-Jones, LordSnowdons half-brother, to do the party planning.
Peregrine was the man behind Elton and Davids partnership celebrations in 2005, which included a dinner for 600 attendees.
Since then hes gone on to plan several White Tie and Tiara EJAF fundraisers for the couple, but declined to comment about the latest festivities.
