Eltonjohnworld.com
congratulates Elton John and Blue on taking a cover of Elton and
Bernie Taupin's song Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word
to the top of the UK charts on December 15, 2002.
Confirming
mid-week estimates, the song, which was originally penned in 1976
for the Blue Moves album - Elton's favourite album of
his vast repertoire - features Elton with the top-selling boyband.
And
it comes as the UK singles charts, introduced in 1952, celebrate
50 years.
It
is the first time Elton is number one in his homeland since he
duetted with George Michael on another of Elton
and Bernie's works - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
- in November 1991.
It
brings to three the number of times he has held a UK number one
single courtesy of a duet. The first time it was Don't Go
Breaking My Heart with Kiki Dee in 1976.
Elton's
only UK solo single to hit top spot was a re-release
of Sacrifice in June 1990. It was previously released
in autumn 1989 and barely made the top 40.
