An album by an artist on Elton's label has become the fastest-selling album of the year so far.
X has sold 182,000 copies in its first week, 14,000 more than Coldplay managed with Ghost Stories in May.
Ed Sheeran's second album, which is pronounced as "multiply" rather than the letter, also includes his first number one single, Sing.
What's more, a photo of Ed and Elton appeared in Parade magazine's June 29th issue.
A cover story on Ed includes input from Stuart Camp, who manages Sheeran's career. Stuart, who says he was impressed by the young performer's maturity, joined Rocket from Atlantic Records, having been the Marketing Manager responsible for the campaigns around James Blunt's first and second albums.
