Written by Chief Editor.

Last year, Elton was honoured at the first ever BRITs Icon event, which was broadcast on ITV. The new award was presented by Rod Stewart who also joined his friend on stage to duet on Sad Songs (Say So Much).

The pop veteran performed a variety of songs before Rod's appearance, ranging from Tiny Dancer to Home Again.

The evening was hosted by Dermot O’Leary and included video messages from the likes of Bernie Taupin, Tony King, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Charlie Watts, Plan B, Annie Lennox, Emilie Sandé, Mumford & Sons, Billie Jean King, and David Furnish.

VH1 Classic has been airing the 90-minute special, which can be seen again tonight at 10 p.m. ET.
