Sunderland Hospice to Benefit From Celebrity Donations

Written by Chief Editor.

Elton and actress Keira Knightley have backed a North East charity ball by donating signed goodies to auction.

St Benedict’s Hospice, in Ryhope, Sunderland, is holding a James Bond-themed ball on September 26 as it celebrates its 30th anniversary and raises funds for a minibus for those living with life limiting illnesses.

Sir Elton sent the charity a 'Rocket Man' signed cap, CD, t-shirt and photos after a trustee wrote to his drummer, Nigel Olsson, who played in her former husband Bill Elliot’s band. Keira sent an autographed photograph, as did performers Jessie J, David Jason and Joanna Lumley. Also up for grabs is a limited edition 007 magazine and pictures from Bond actor Robbie Coltrane; a Downton Abbey framed picture autographed by the show's creator Julian Fellowes; a top worn by actress Julie Hesmondhalgh; and a pen and pencil set from Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Diamond and Dinner Jackets ball is at Ramside Hall Hotel.

The evening will also include entertainment from the twelve-piece Q The Music band.
