BBC One have announced that they will be showing a documentary called Truth About HIV on the 25th of May.
The programme will look at the science behind the virus as well as the cutting edge drug therapy available that can potentially keep the virus at bay.
Presenter Dr Chris van Tulleken will be speaking to those who have HIV as well as doctors and scientists. He will also talk with the likes of Sir Elton and Lord Norman Fowler about how the misinformation and fear led to people being stigmatised when HIV and AIDS first entered mainstream consciousness.
The documentary, also featuring comments from Prince Harry, sees Chris travel to sub-Saharan Africa to visit a clinic in KwaZulu-Natal where HIV is top of the list of health issues and infection rates are still incredibly high.
Truth About HIV is part of the BBC’s The Truth About… ongoing series, which also investigates sleep and stress.
