''Elton John Flying'' to be Included in Auction House's ''Made in Britain'' Sale

Written by Chief Editor.

Celebrity photographer Terry O'Neill has said the following about the Rocket Man: “When I first heard him on the radio, I thought he was American.  Because of my early work with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, papers and magazines would often ask me who I thought was going to be the next big thing.  I started to tell people about this guy I heard on the radio – so when I finally got the assignment to take photos – only then did I find out that Elton John was British!   I love working with Elton – he’s not only a great and generous man – but still one of the most talented musicians of all time.”

Next month, one of Terry's classic images, taken in 1972, goes on sale. Elton John Flying (depicting the singer rising above his piano) is part of Sotheby's Made in Britain auction.

It will be held on the 13th of September in London and offers some images of rock royalty, with David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse among them.

Made in Britain showcases artists across the disciplines of paintings, works on paper, prints, and photography. The sale will also include a special focus celebrating a century of ceramics.
