An Honour For The Caribou Ranch Recording Studio

Written by Chief Editor.

YouTube now has a video shot at last night's Colorado Music Hall of Fame Induction Concert.

John Oates can be seen--and heard--doing a cover of Elton's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, as a tribute to the legendary Caribou Ranch studio, which was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The concert, dubbed The Rocky Mountain Way, was held at Fiddler's Green in Greenwood Village.

Caribou Ranch was built by producer James William Guercio near Nederland, Colorado. It attracted the likes of Elton, the Beach Boys, Frank Zappa, Chicago, Stephen Stills and Michael Jackson.

Elton's 1974 album Caribou was named after the studio. Caribou Ranch was in operation until the control room suffered extensive fire damage in March 1985.

Also inducted were Joe Walsh with Barnstorm, and the late Dan Fogelberg. Half of the CMHOF’s portion of the proceeds are being donated in Fogelberg’s memory to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
