38 years ago today, Elton's 21 at 33 was released. It featured the hit Little Jeannie, which reached number three on the Billboard pop chart in the United States.
Guest artists included Toni Tennille, Peter Noone, Bruce Johnston, Steve Lukather, Stephanie Spruill, and Don Henley.
The name came about because Elton was 33 years old, and this was his 21st official release.
Incidentally, a couple of months prior, the star's birthday party was held at Le Dome in Los Angeles. Radio and TV personality Richard Blade made a brief reference to it in his autobiography, World in My Eyes. He was the DJ at the event and says it was billed as ''thirty-three and a third,'' the speed of a vinyl record.
