EJAF's Latest Oscar Benefit

Sunday night's Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Award Viewing Party raised over $6.3 million.

During the annual soiree, there’s always an auction with one-of-a-kind prizes, and this year was no different: Folks bid on a chance to win a trip to the spring premiere of Rocketman in London. But during the bidding, the auctioneer invited Taron Egerton, the star of the biopic, to come up and sing. He said he’d do it, but only if Elton accompanied him.

So with the host on keyboards, Taron sang Tiny Dancer, and they received a standing ovation.

The auction also offered guests the chance to bid on a Yamaha piano autographed and played by the pop icon at the Lion King 10th Anniversary concert, the opportunity to attend studio sessions for Elton’s upcoming musical The Devil Wears Prada, a week-long vacation to the Maldives and a tour of the private Elizabeth Taylor Archive.

Among those in attendance were Bernie Taupin; Lindsey Vonn; Nancy Wilson; Eric McCormack; Christina Ricci; Rumer Willis; and Diana Ross.

Elton and the Killers' Brandon Flowers also took the stage. They performed Daniel.
