Last night, Taron Egerton showed off the first 20 minutes of footage from the Elton John musical Rocketman.
The location--the Troubadour in Los Angeles--was appropriate since this is where Elton made his American debut (in August 1970).
"His entire life changed when he broke America," producer David Furnish, who is married to John, said from the stage.
Elton, who is played by Taron in the movie, wasn't in attendance. However, he sent a message via video: "Sit back and enjoy." David, who hosted the event, introduced Egerton and supporting cast members Bryce Dallas Howard (who portrays Elton's mum) and Jamie Bell (who portrays ''Bernie Taupin'').
Among those in the audience were actors Patrick Stewart and Darren Criss, and Paramount Pictures' CEO Jim Gianopulos.
