Pop Vocalist Celebrates 29 Years of Sobriety

Written by Chief Editor.

The former Reg Dwight has hit a major milestone in his longtime sobriety journey.

Today the pop maestro celebrated 29 years sober — sharing a photo to social media of his Alcoholics Anonymous sobriety coin to mark the occasion.

The coin was inscribed with AA’s mottos of “Unity, Service, and Recovery,” as well as one of the organisation’s common sayings, “To thine own self be true.”

In the caption, Elton reflected on what the date meant to him.

“Twenty-nine years ago today, I was a broken man,” he wrote. “I finally summoned up the courage to say three words that would change my life: ‘I need help.’ “

“Thank you to all the selfless people who have helped me on my journey through sobriety,” he continued. “I am eternally grateful.”
