Eminem nearly died from a drugs overdose and was taking "up to 30 Vicodin a day" before being saved by showbiz pal Elton John, a new book reveals.
The performer, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, was once even rushed to the hospital two hours away from death after consuming the equivalent of "four bags of heroin."
Not Afraid: The Evolution of Eminem book also focuses on the relationship between the rapper and Elton, who released his own confessional autobiography a few weeks ago. The pop veteran reportedly became Eminem's sponsor in his recovery program.
"The two started on a program of weekly check-ins and grew very close," Anthony Bozza wrote.
