Tate to Open For Many of Elton's Aussie Shows

Written by Chief Editor.

The Rocket Man is gearing up for the Australian leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which kicks off on Saturday, the 30th of November, in Perth. And he has just announced that the support act for his outdoor concerts will be a Sydney musician.

Tate Sheridan first opened for the pop maestro when he was 23 years old. It was on Elton’s 2015 Down Under tour.

The superstar has followed the younger man's career in the years since, and played Sheridan's song Fade To Black on his Apple Music Beats 1 radio programme to an audience of millions.

In 2019-2020, Tate will join Elton on 22 of his 34 Australian dates, performing songs from his latest solo work, Angel Man, as well as songs from his back catalogue, according to Chugg Entertainment.

Sheridan will perform some of his appearances solo on piano and at others, including at Carrington Park, as a three-piece, with piano, bass and drums.

Tate wrote on Facebook:

''I am very pleased to announce I’ll be opening for Sir Elton John at all 22 outdoor shows on his last ever tour of Australia! He was my biggest childhood hero and it all feels very surreal. I’ll be playing songs from my back catalogue and I’m just so grateful for the opportunity to share my original music to so many people. I know life will return to normal after it’s all over but I’m really looking forward to making some lifelong memories and just having a wonderful experience. Bring on an epic few months!''
