Bernie Taupin's handwritten lyrics for Your Song have been sold for just under $237,600.

At the same sale, the original handwritten lyrics to Bennie & the Jets sold for just under $87,600, and the words to Border Song, with annotations by Elton, went for more than $31,000.

This was part of Bonhams' auction of Music Memorabilia in Los Angeles on Monday. The items were from Maxine Taupin. Also on the auction block were the original lyrics for Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road, Candle in the Wind, and Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting). Estimates had ranged from $30,000 to $200,000.

Giles Moon, Bonhams Director of Music & Entertainment Memorabilia, remarked before the event: “We are so excited to offer not just one, but six original, handwritten lyrics for some of Elton John’s iconic songs. The lyrics reveals Taupin’s careful wordcraft and his famously inconsistent spelling.”

In other auction developments, until December 19th, Charitybuzz.com has a couple of special lots. One, to benefit the REED Foundation For Autism, consists of tickets for Elton's April 11th Barclays Center show in Brooklyn, New York. It includes the use of a luxury suite and VIP entrance.

The other, to benefit Harvardwood, which seeks positive social change, contains a leather Rocketman duffle. Inside are photos and programs featuring Taron Egerton, who played Sir Elton in the film, as well as the special edition of GQ on the making of the movie. The gift set also includes a hardbound book, Rocketman: Inside The World Of The Movie, with a forward written by Elton, and a Rocketman tour unisex T-shirt, size medium.

The best part of this gift package is the hardbound copy of Me, Elton John's autobiography, signed by the man himself.
