How ''Rocketman'' Fared at Two Award Ceremonies This Weekend

The Motion Picture Sound Editors unveiled winners Sunday night at the 67th Golden Reel Awards at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. The annual ceremony recognising outstanding achievement in sound editing presented awards in 23 categories encompassing feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation, documentaries, games, special venue and other media.

They honoured the racing drama Ford v Ferrari for effects/Foley and the World War I epic 1917 for dialogue/ADR.

The Elton John biopic, Rocketman, also got a trophy. Music editors Andy Patterson and Cecile Tournesac were singled out for ''Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing--Musical.''

Alson on January 19, at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A., Joaquin Phoenix  won his first SAG award for his role in Joker. But he spent most of his speech acknowledging his competitors for ''Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.''

Among them was Taron Egerton, who portrayed Elton in Rocketman. The 45-year-old called his performance ''beautiful'' and said he can't wait to see what else the actor does.
