A New Project From a Group Whose Admirers Include John And Rice

Written by Chief Editor.

Elton has called the Overtures, a '60s tribute act, ''the best band of their kind in the world.''

Tim Rice has said: ''I am in awe at the musical accuracy and execution of the band's interpretation of the great songs of my youth; is there any hit songs from that era they cannot re-create?''

In November 2008, Sir Elton invited the Overtures to entertain at a party thrown to celebrate Lulu's 60th birthday. Many of the famous guests came on to perform with them. What's more, two weeks later, Elton asked the band to support him at his New Year's concert at the O2 Arena in London.

Steve Phypers, who plays drums for the Overtures, tells this Web site that they also played at Elton and David Furnish's Civil Partnership in Windsor, back in 2005.

In addition, he wanted to let us know that the group has just released their very own originals album. It's called Onceinaworld.
