A war veteran who raised over 27 million pounds for the NHS has received at least 25,000 birthday cards ahead of his 100th birthday at the end of the month. He has also received kudos from Elton and gotten the attention of Britain's Got Talent.
Captain Tom Moore had originally hoped to gross a thousand pounds for the NHS. With the aid of a walking frame, he completed 100 laps (of the 25m loop) in his Bedfordshire garden, in 10-lap sessions.
Elton wrote on Instagram that Tom is ''an amazing man with a huge heart'' who has inspired him to ''join the legions of other British citizens contributing to his fundraising efforts.'' He added that Tom ''demonstrates a triumph of the human spirit and shows us how one person can make a difference.''
Moore has achieved another feat: His charity single of You'll Never Walk Alone with Michael Ball, along with the NHS Voices of Care Choir, went straight into the Official Big Top 40 Chart at #1. What's more, there's a good chance that Tom and Michael will be performing on Britain's Got Talent final.
