Celebrities Help Raise Thousands For Project Angel Food

Written by Chief Editor.

On Saturday night, the first-ever Project Angel Food LEAD WITH LOVE Emergency Telethon was broadcast on KTLA5. Hosted by KTLA anchor Jessica Holmes, Eric McCormack, and Sheryl Lee Ralph from Philadelphia, over $700,000 was raised.

This surpassed their goal of $500,000, thanks to the many high-profile participants. One was Elton, who said in his taped message, ''We have always worked to make sure the most vulnerable people in the world are protected and cared for with love and compassion. We have supported Project Angel Food through the Elton John AIDS Foundation before, and we are proud to support 'Lead With Love.' For those watching from home, Project Angel Food needs your help urgently to keep doing what they do to serve others.''
David Furnish and Jamie Lee Curtis were among others contributing brief segments, with both speaking of bringing their families with them to volunteer at the facility, which prepares and delivers tens of thousands of healthy meals each week to people in need.
Those taking part in taped musical performances included Kelly Clarkson; Annie Lennox; Josh Groban; and CeeLo Green
With the cancellation of fundraisers, the 30-year organisation needed more money in order to continue their work.
