An acclaimed designer has died at the age of 76.
Kansai Yamamoto, who had leukemia, was particularly known for producing stage outfits for David Bowie. These included costumes for the singer's 1973 Aladdin Sane tour.
Kansai also created an outfit for Elton, which was sold at Sotheby's in London in 1988. It featured an ornate and industrial-style coat made of black wool and flannel. It included a jerkin, blouson and trousers.
Yamamoto later added his own touch to Louis Vuiitton's Resort collection, with sequined Samurais on dresses as well as a series of handbags decorated with Kabuki and Samurai visages. At the time of his death, he was working on an online streaming event, ''Nippon Genki Project 2020 Super Energy.''
His company said this will go ahead as scheduled on the 31st of July.
