Liverpool's historic Cavern Club has lost around 30,000 pounds a week since mass gatherings were banned in March.
The venue, which has a photo signed by the Rocket Man, reading, ''So much history and wonderful music, thanks,'' has hosted the Beatles; Elton (with Bluesology); Stevie Wonder; and Adele.
They recently had to let 20 employees go, and more layoffs are expected.
Mayor Joe Anderson has warned that if its bid to the Government's Cultural Recovery Fund fails, the club will close permanently. Yesterday live music establishments were permitted to reopen, but with reduced capacity and with certain safeguards in place.
People come from all over the world to visit the club, which normally can fit hundreds inside.
