Pop Luminary's Bed is Going on The Auction Block Soon

Written by Chief Editor.

A bed previously owned by the Rocket Man is going under the hammer at Fellows Auctioneers in Birmingham, England.

On the fifth of October, the double bed (a photo appears on the front page of the auction house's Web site) will be sold. It was originally auctioned off in 2003, when Elton decided he wanted to implement a more modern style for his home.

The bed, which appears as Lot 748 in Fellows' Antiques, Silver & Collectibles sale, still retains the label and lot number from the Sotheby's event which was called Elton John and his London Lifestyle.

Also up for grabs is a pair of Versace Rosenthal Wild Flora ice pails, once owned by the songwriter (Lot 317). It comes with a copy of the Sotheby's catalogue.

Fellows' Communications Manager tells EJW: ''The brochure features a touching forward from Sir Elton reminiscing about his history with his Holland Park home, as well as his motivation for selling its contests. The catalogue itself contains photos of his home that are not widely available online. Although we cannot claim to know who has slept in the bed, Sir Elton is known for being a generous host at all of his properties, receiving dignitaries such as Bill Clinton.''

The auction house is offering virtual viewings as well as the ability for people to come and see the items in person at their salesroom.
