Tickets for the Elton John gig in Widnes which could be the biggest concert in Halton for more than 25 years have been going down a storm, with more than 60% sold within days.
A Halton Council spokesman said that more than half of the tickets for the gig on Sunday, June 18, next year at the Select Security Stadium were sold in the first week of the musician's date in the borough being announced last month.
Elton will be visiting Widnes as part of his Wonderful Crazy Night tour, promoting his latest studio album.
Hospitality packages for the show are still available.
Cllr Phil Harris remarked: “There has already been considerable interest in our hospitality since the tour date was announced so book today on to avoid missing out on a unique opportunity.”
He believes the concert will be the biggest staged in Halton since the Stone Roses' gig at Spike Island in Widnes in May 1990.
The Your Song package includes standard seating access to a function room with designated bar, a two course meal, one concert programme per couple and a car park pass.
The Crocodile Rock package offers premium Seating, access to a function room with designated bar, prosecco on arrival, a complimentary drink from the bar, canapes on arrival, a three course meal, one concert programme per couple and a car park pass.
The packages cost £150 and £180 plus VAT respectively.
General tickets for the show cost £40, £60 and £80, plus a booking fee.
