NBC and VH1 will air the Concert for Diana, featuring Elton and Duran Duran, among many others. The former plans a highlights show; the latter live coverage.

Tickets for the event sold out within about 30 minutes, selling for around $89 each.

The show will be held at Wembley Stadium on July 1st, which would have been Diana’s 46th birthday. Money raised will go to charities supported by the princess and her sons.

Other broadcasters include RTL II Germany, Canal Satellite Digital in Spain, Televisa in Mexico, Foxtel and Nine Network in Australia, CTV in Canada, TV2 Denmark, Netherlands Public Broadcasting, Norways TV2, Brazils TV Bandeirantes, STAR in Asia, M-Net in South Africa, and Acasa TV in Romania.

Steve Sterling, from Grand Entertainment, who has been brokering the TV sales on behalf of the concerts organisers, noted: Its rare to have an event which genuinely celebrates the life of such an extraordinary person and has such a fascinating narrative. Prince William and Prince Harry have conceived an exciting and inspirational event which has caught the imagination of the worlds major television broadcasters. The concert will bring together more than 500 million households around the globe to remember Diana, Princess of Wales in the best ways and celebrate a life well-lived.
