The Reno Phil is northern Nevada’s largest performing arts organisation with something for all tastes from Classical to Pop.

Beginning its 50th  anniversary season, the orchestra, led by music director Laura Jackson, is a part-time, per-service orchestra comprised of over 60 professional musicians who perform more than 30 concerts annually throughout the Reno, Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe region. The Reno Philharmonic Association oversees and operates the professional orchestra, a symphonic chorus, three youth orchestras and numerous educational and outreach programs.
Every July for 24 years, the Reno Phil has performed Pops on the River, a fundraising event at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno, with a costume contest, raffle and concert.
Pops on the River returns Saturday, July 14. Gates open at 5 p.m. It will feature Craig Meyer as Almost Elton John, alongside the Reno Phil.
Tables are judged and then prizes awarded for the following categories:
  • Most Historic
  • Most Outrageous
  • Most Elegant
  • Best Drinkable Concoction
  • Best Elton John Theme
  • & of course, Best of Show!

There will be a limited number of single tickets (general admission is $20) available at the gate the day of Pops on the River. Seating is available on the grass.
