A venue which has played host to stars such as Elton is facing closure, according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammersmith Palais is to be demolished after 90 years and turned into offices and a restaurant, a far cry from the days where it would hold wartime tea parties or Sir Eltons 50th birthday bash.

One of its most extravagant moments was when Elton turned up to his party dressed in the style of an 18th Century Versailles character  with a wig so high, he had to be delivered in a van.

It has also been a performing ground to many top artists such as the Rolling Stones and U2.

Its owner, Parkway Properties, has planning permission to convert the property and is currently awaiting further consent from Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
