Elton, Cher, and Lady Gaga are to be honoured this year at one of the world’s biggest gay dance music festivals, White Party Palm Springs.


USA Today reports the festival is marking its 25th anniversary this year by presenting special ICON Awards to those whose achievements “embody” its “spirit”.  The women are being recognised for being “pioneers” for the LGBT community, as well as for their artistry, activism and charity work.  Elton and his partner. David Furnish, are being saluted for their activism as well as their philanthropy.

 Lisa Vanderpump, Kathy Griffin., Lance Bass and Carmen Electra are some of the other honorees.

It’s not clear which, if any, of these notables will attend this year’s White Party Palm Springs, which takes place April 25-28.  The awards will be given out April 26.

Also celebrated 25 years are the GLAAD Media Awards.

In fact, Elton and his friend, Lady Gaga, are among the music nominees for awards presented by the gay advocacy group GLAAD.

The annual GLAAD Media Awards celebrate fair and accurate representation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the media.

The awards will be presented April 12 a the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, and in New York City on May 3 at the Waldorf-Astoria.
