Last month, Elton, Liz Hurley and Kate Hudson headed up a star-studded evening of philanthropy at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria.
They helped raise over $5.2 million at the Breast Cancer Research Foundations Hot Pink Party.
Since the theme was ¡Viva Fiesta!, there was a mariachi band playing during cocktails, and a decor featuring miniature donkey piñatas hung from balloons in the hallway, and brightly coloured tablecloths in the Grand Ballroom.
Kay Krill, President and CEO of ANN INC., was honoured for her outstanding leadership in the fight against breast cancer with the foundations Sandra Taub Humanitarian Award. BCRF bestows this annual accolade to recipients who have demonstrated a unique passion for the cause through their work, inspirational courage or individual commitment.
Long-time BCRF supporter Judith Schlager received the Roz and Les Goldstein Unsung Hero Award, in recognition of her work helping others cope with their breast cancer diagnoses.
The main event was, of course, Sir Elton. On a stage decked out with artificial palm trees and a fake moon, the headliner (as seen below this article) was himself decked out – in black sequins and a pink shirt — and presented the 1,500 guests with an assortment of classics like Tiny Dancer, Crocodile Rock
and Your Song.
