Elton Discusses His Plans For The Philippines

As mentioned previously, Elton will be performing at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on December 8.

In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment, the musician spoke about the event.

“My show in the Philippines will include many of my biggest hit singles, as well as several well-known and much-loved album tracks,” he remarked. “We always aim to give our fans value for money, so you can expect quite a show!”

The concert is part of the Asian leg of the “40th Anniversary of the Rocket Man Tour,” which is celebrating the landmark release of his single Rocket Man.

Elton revealed that with his tight schedule, he won’t get a chance to tour around Manila, though he would probably get some local albums as souvenirs.

He noted, “My tours are structured quite tightly and I will only be in the Philippines for one day, so I probably won’t see much of the country apart from the hotel and the venue. Wherever I am, I do try and find out about the local music and musicians, and usually come home with a pile of CDs from each city.”

Asked about his many recognitions, Elton replied:

“During my career, I have been fortunate in receiving many awards, and the knighthood from Her Majesty the Queen certainly ranks as one of which I am most proud. However, at heart, I am a working musician, and I am always striving to make the best music I can. That was my intention in the early 1970s and it is my intention now; I work as hard as I ever did, both in the studio and onstage.”
