As expected, Hurricane Sandy has impacted many states, including New York.

The storm sent floodwater gushing into the five boroughs, submerging cars, tunnels and the subway system, and plunging neighbourhoods into darkness. It has shaped up to be among the worst in city history, rivaling the blizzards of 1888 and 1947. Two deaths were reported in Queens alone.

Sandy also closed down Broadway productions. Today, the majority of shows will resume performances. However, Disney Theatrical Productions has decided to wait one more day before getting back on schedule, canceling Wednesday night performances of The Lion King and Mary Poppins.
