Christie’s Watches Online is currently presenting Patek Philippe: Tradition and Value, a selection of vintage and modern timepieces.

Lot 74 ought to appeal to Elton John fans. This Patek Philippe clock was given to music producer Russ Regan from the luminary in 1973. The clock is accompanied by a gold record for his eponymous album. Regan, who has been previously interviewed by this Web site’s Cheryl’s Specials, has been in the entertainment industry for over three decades and was the head of major labels like Motown, 20th Century and Polygram Records. He played a key role in the success of numerous recording artists including Elton, Neil Diamond, and Barry White.

This desk clock is encased in a presentation box with a plaque inscribed, “TO RUSS AND JUDY WITH LOVE ELTON OCTOBER 1973.” The gold record is RIAA certified, making it a collector’s item on its own. It is framed and matted to the period of the 1970s, similar to other RIAA gold records of this time. An inscription on the frame of the records reads: “PRESENTED TO RUSS REGAN TO COMMEMORATE THE SALE OF MORE THAN ONE MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF THE UNI RECORDS LONG-PLAYING RECORD ALBUM “ELTON JOHN.”

The pieces from the sale will be on view concurrently with the auction house’s Patek Philippe Private Selling Exhibition at their Rockefeller Plaza galleries in New York City, until the 23rd of the month. They can be seen from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., but only from 1-5 p.m. on July 23. Online bids will be accepted for eight more days.
