A pair of Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert tickets is being sold to benefit the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, which works with at-risk young people living in distressed communities throughout the U.S.
The lower level tickets are for Elton’s April 17th appearance at Uniondale, New York’s Nassau Coliseum. Bids will be accepted through tomorrow at Charitybuzz.com.
Meanwhile across the Atlantic, one of Terry O’Neill’s photos of Elton at Dodger Stadium in 1975 is included in Sotheby’s Made in Britain sale. This is to be held in London on the 20th of March. Incidentally, a photo taken by the late artist that was used on the cover of Me was part of the EJAF‘s recent Academy Awards Viewing Party auction.
Another highly anticipated event is Julien’s annual Music Icons Auction. The next one–to be held on the 15th and 16th of May–will be open to the public and broadcast worldwide from the stage of the Hard Rock Café in New York City’s famed Times Square. There will be hundreds of highly collectible lots documenting rock ‘n’ roll’s rich history, spotlighting musical instruments, clothing, personal items, and memorabilia from the hottest stars of today and yesterday, with Elton, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Prince, Kurt Cobain, Bob Dylan, Freddie Mercury, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Madonna among them.
