Classic Car Sale Had Link to Elton

A 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage was sold for £26,950 at a classic and historic car sale – even though it was in pieces, according to the Gazette.

The car was described as a blank canvas for the restorer to work on in the sales catalogue for Bridgwater Car Auctions at Dunball.

There was interest from as far away as Japan and the final price was more than two-and-a-half times its estimate of £10,000.

BCA classic division manager Robin Lawton said: “The body will require stripping back and repainting but, for a new owner who would like a DB6 restored to their exact specification, this undoubtedly has great potential.

“Aston Martins have always been produced in small numbers, so good examples are prized by buyers at auction.

“Earlier models such as this one always attract a lot of attention from buyers, but this car certainly exceeded all expectations.”

Another vehicle sold by BCA in this sale was a Maserati BiTurbo formerly owned by Sir Elton’s company WA Bong Ltd, for £7,500.

Also, a rare 1929 Ford Model ‘A’ Coupe with Sportsman coachwork realised £14,500 and a 1960 BSA AA motorbike and sidecar combination in the correct bright yellow livery achieved £5,050.
