According to the July 25, 2005 Hindustan Times, the Church of England is banning members of the clergy from blessing gay partnerships.

They will be dealt with ”pastorally and sensitively” and, after December 5–when civil partnerships will be permitted in Britain–receive some of the same tax and inheritance benefits of married couples.

But the Church’s House of Bishops said they shouldn’t be provided with services of blessing.

{As noted previously at this Web site, Elton and David Furnish plan to have a ceremony, making their union official before year’s end.}
