Elton was among the stars who recently donated hats to an online auction to raise money for a British charity.

The signed headwear, which was sold on eBay, was for a fundraiser organised by bosses at St Mungo’s as part of the Woolly Hat Day initiative, a drive to help the homeless.

Sir Elton and Annie Lennox donated trilbies, with the former’s going for 314 pounds.  Michael Buble handed over a military-style green cap, and other contributors included Eric Clapton, Sienna Miller and U2‘s The Edge.

The final total raised from the auction, which closed on the second of February, was just over £8,000.
