As recently reported, an extravagant pair of boots owned by Elton are  being auctioned to raise money for Amnesty International.

The black leather, knee-high custom made Giusti boots, which can be seen at www.ebay.co.uk/charity50,  are U.K. size 8. The platforms feature a reflective gold piano design in the heels. In addition, the luminary has autographed the sides of both platforms, with “With love, Elton John” on the left and “Elton John, February 1997″ on the right.

The auction’s name came about because the Web site is celebrating having raised £50 million with its biggest ever celebrity auction – 50 celebrities, 50 items, 50 charities. So there are items and one-off experiences from a whole host of notables from music, TV, fashion and sport.

The event will run through shortly before 11:57 PDT on Sunday, Sept. 1. The winning bidder will not only receive the boots, but also an autographed photo of the vocalist and two tickets to this year’s Bestival, which is being held on the Isle of Wight from Sept. 5-8. Elton is closing the festival by headlining its final night.

“Basic human rights are being violated the world over on the basis of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation,” Elton said. “Amnesty International do an amazing job in bringing the world’s attention to this abuse.”
