Watford footbal club director and Saracens rugby club owner Nigel Wray has announced that he is to resign from the board of Watford Leisure Plc, according to media reports on August 17, 2002.The board has had a turbulent summer following huge financial dangers caused by the ITV Digital crisis, the resignation of chairman Sir Elton John and the dismissal of Italian manager Gianluca Vialli earlier this year

And the resignation of Wray, whose rugby club shares Vicarage Road with Watford, suggests that the board, still under the control of acting chairman Haig Oundjian, will remain unsettled. But Chief Executive Tim Shaw thanked Wray for his contribution: “Nigel’s advice to the board and to me individually over the last years has been enormously appreciated. We thank him for the contribution he has made.”

Questions were raised by Watford club fans about Wray’s interest in property at the club and his association with chairman Oundjian .
