He might have been the least-known name in the Mississippi Valley Fair lineup, but Chris Cagle delivered a solid 85-minute show to wrap up the six nights of grandstand entertainment Sunday at the Davenport, Iowa grounds.
The Texan took command of the stage and had a solid rapport with the audience throughout the show, according to the Quad City Times, which ventured a bit into the rock side of country.
Cagle has had eight top 40 country hits since he first emerged on the charts in 2000, all of which were part of the concert.
These included Beautiful Day and Miss Me Baby.
He was backed by a six-piece band with a rock edge.
The exception was when the 38-year-old did an acoustic solo version of Rocket Man.
Cagle’s fourth album is expected this fall, so he also performed the first single from it, What Kinda Gone.
Incidentally, Cagle wasn’t the only guy named Chris, covering Rocket Man this weekend.
American Idol phenom Chris Daughtry and his band performed Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, and this number was part of the set.
