Comedy theatre production Elton John’s Glasses was axed July 11, 1998 at London’s Queen’s Theatre.
The show, which began more than a year ago in Watford, and tells the story of how a Hornet’s football player is haunted by losing sight of the ball at the FA Cup Final at Wembley in 1984 – because of a reflection from Elton’s glasses!
The curtain has fallen on the show at (how appropriate) Queen’s Theatre, Shaftsbury Avenue, London. According to London’s Evening Standard newspaper, the Threatre is blaming the success of the World Cup for keeping crowds away from the production itself!
[Ed. I was there for the second from last performance on July 11 to witness this brilliant comedy, featuring Brian Conley. The show will be much missed by those of us lucky enough to see it.]
