Looking ahead to their June 10 concert in Lincolnshire, where they hope to ”create hell,” two of Elton’s band members recently spoke by phone to the Echo.
Nigel Olsson talked about Elton’s generosity and looked back at some past concerts. He said he loves playing ballads like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Someone Saved My Life Tonight.
The drummer was pleased that they recorded their latest disc, Wonderful Crazy Night, like older albums, with everyone in the same studio at the same time.
Davey Johnstone still gets ”a buzz” from the opening of Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting), but says Elton’s catalogue is so vast, he couldn’t say what his favourite is.
But he enjoys seeing how the new songs work live.
