Red Piano director and occasional EJ photographer David LaChapelle has been selected as the 48th annual Grammy Awards’ official artist.
So his photograph, depicting a vibrant scene of celebration and music, will be used as the event’s official image and will grace the cover of their programme book and promotional poster.
American Photo recently named him one of the world’s most important people in the field, and Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said, ”From album covers to publicity shots, photography has long played a major role in the music industry. The Academy is proud to have an artist of David’s calibre and passion involved. His colorful work communicates the power of music and the immediate and individual connection it has with people–capturing what the Grammys are all about–celebrating music.”
The show airs on CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern time February 8, 2006.
