Imagine spending time with Elton or the Dalai Lama. It’s all part of a unique auction that’s getting attention all over the sports world, according to a February 13, 2006 by KOMO News.

Sports Illustrated carried an article on it, and by the end of the week, several others are expected to be mentioning an event called Dream Catchers being put on by the Moyer Foundation, which helps several charities for youngsters.

“There’s a lot of kids that still need our help,” Karen Moyer said. “Dream Catchers is an event that’s going to be simulcast in three cities: Seattle, Sun Valley, and Palm Springs.”

“They are dreams that you can’t just go to the travel agent and buy,” added Jamie Moyer, who’s getting ready to begin his eleventh season pitching for the Seattle Mariners. “We tried to make them (the dreams) very unique.”

The 20 dreams up for grabs include a London concert with the Rolling StonesEJAF Oscar party, and a day with a NASCAR great.

The event is scheduled for 6-11 p.m. Saturday, February 18, at the Triple Door in Seattle. The 20 dreams will be auctioned by a representative of Sotheby’s in London.

“It’s really great to see the support that we’ve had,” says Jamie. “And hopefully there’s more people that are looking to come and make this a fun night and a great way to raise an awareness as well.”
