Sydney-based Irish artist David Egan has just been commissioned by Universal Music Australia to produce a painting inspired by a song from Elton John’s latest album, Songs From The West Coast. The song itself is called ‘Original Sin’.
36-year-old Egan left Ireland for Australia in the late 80s. He has worked in advertising as an art director in design houses around Sydney, and is now the Artist in Residence in The Rocks, Sydney. Egan has previously held exhibitions in Sydney over the past six years, and exhibited in Tokyo in 1997.
This is not the first time that Egan has been influenced by music. Previously, he did 50 paintings inspired by U2’s songs.
