US singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc claimed his first solo UK No.1 on Sunday when his track The Man topped the British singles chart, according to the Official Charts Company.
The track by the 35-year-old, whose real name is Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, pays homage to the chorus melody of Elton’s first UK top 10 single Your Song.
Blacc made his UK charts debut in 2011 with I Need Dollar.
In the album chart, the Kaiser Chiefs went straight in at No.1 with Education, Education, Education & War, knocking winner of reality show The X Factor Sam Bailey‘s The Power Of Love into second place.
George Michael‘s former No.1 album Symphonica, which includes a cover of Elton’s Idol, slipped one place to No. 3.
As for the Official Albums Chart Top 100, Gary Barlow‘s Since I Saw You Last, which includes a Face to Face duet with Elton, is in 15th place. And the reissued Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album is further down the compilation, at #25.
